Then we drove over to the coast and moseyed our way up to Newport by way of a few important pit stops:
Sea Lion Caves - The largest sea cave in the U.S. where we visited on a day when about 300 sea lions were assembled for a President's Day BBQ. The cave is 125 feet high and about 2 acres wide and the sea lions are VERY stinky and VERY noisy.
Here's the elevator we took 21 stories down to where the sea cave was.
When we arrived in Newport, we drove to the Rogue Brewing Headquarters immediately. Conveniently, they were having a President's Day "garage sale" on beer. Needless to say, we're now very well stocked. Come and visit and have a pint or two!
Once in Newport, it was time to relax and watch the sunset after a crystal clear, sunny day on the Oregon Coast...in February.
Nope, you didn't hear me wrong. We hit the coast on a gorgeous, clear (albeit cold) sunshine filled weekend in February. No self-respecting Oregonian will believe that this picture was taken on the Oregon Coast in February, but we know the truth.
Thanks, dear Presidents, for allowing us the chance to have a great weekend on the coast in February.
Carrie
Nice get away weekend. Sea Lion cave looks very interesting. Enjoyed all the photos.
